Christmas Choir Concert

After much effort (and most of it pointless) we got in to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert on Friday night. And, of course, it was the most amazing event I've ever been to.
We tried to get tickets through the internet but we were denied. So we took a chance at just going down there to stand in the stand-by line. I got there by 4:30 in the afternoon and was not the first person in line. I waited for 2 hours while my bones froze in my body, then realized I forgot my glasses! So I ran to the car to get them, and while I was gone David called and said that the people in front of him were handed extra tickets and the people behind him were handed extra tickets. If I hadn't been in public I would have laid down and screamed. So I ran back and David told me to scope things out and try to get some extra tickets. Somehow I got one ticket, so my gracious husband was going to just meet me after the show. After I fought off the crowd and made it into the Conference Center, David called to tell me that someone had given him 2 tickets! So he fought the crowd and made it into the Conference center where we were able to find 2 seats together and enjoy the show together.
It was so worth it! I love my Choir and Orchestra! Then little David Archuleta got on stage and started singing like an angel. The whole thing was breathtaking. I can certainly do without the dancers, but everything else about this production is amazing. And looking around at all the people made me feel like I was in something from another world. It just doesn't seem possible that that many people can be in one room. The Choir sounded like the heavenly hosts of angels and their guest was well chosen. I am definitely a fan now.

Best night ever!!!

I just came from this concert! Amazing. I think David Archuletta's "Silent Night" is my favorite arrangement now. Glad you were able to get in!

wow! you guys are true grit when it comes to getting tickets. so glad you didn't go down there for nothing and that you got to experience that. i cried watching the re-run from last year. i bet it is even more emotional when you are actually there.

Peter's sister, who lives in Utah, has each of her siblings apply to get two tickets. If any of us "win" two tickets, we have them sent to her and her husband. Because we are all doing it, they usually have a greater chance of getting tickets. (they have not missed a year yet)
Since you have more siblings, you should soooooo do the same thing next year. Then you will not have to freeze in line. :)
Sounds like a wonderful night thought!!!
