We gave Gabriel rice cereal for the first time this week, on account of his being just a little guy we're hoping this will get some food in him. Memories of my nannying days came swiftly back to me, (hands covered in syrup and me saying "Don't touch anything!!!"). I suppose I forgot about how messy kids are since I've been so fortunate to have a child who will nurse quite easily for the past 5 months. We're going to have to give this boy a bath after every feeding. Our days of childrens' messes have just begun. I've told David that kids are messy and destructive, and told him several times of the leather recliner my dad got as a Christmas present one year that some of us kids used to poke forks in the arms of it, and we eventually formed a hole in the seat of it big enough to hide in for hide-and-seek.

He is so cute! At least rice cereal is white. Once we started giving Bridget sweet potatoes I felt like I was doing laundry every day and mopping the floor after every meal. Ah!
Remember how we stuffed old blankets and pillows into the hole of Dad's chair so that we could still sit in it? Classy.
What a little cutie!
John and I are in the market for the recliner, and this post gave me one real good reason why leather is not an option!
Oh yes, that chair brings back memories! Matt always wants to get a leather couch so we can just wipe off the messes, but I have to remind him of the chair.
Gabriel is so cute! I can't wait to meet him.
I remember avoiding "the chair" always- Dad, I had nothing to do with it!
hello, that chair was NOT leather. it was totally vinyl. you can't poke leather with a fork unless you have someone really strong punching it. not a child. leather is very versatile and stays clean, right.
